Anyone Could Have Thought of That
In this episode of Science Live, Dr. Roger Billings and co-host Pajet Monet explore the art and science of inventioneering — and what it really takes to change the world. Drawing inspiration from Thomas Edison’s 1,000+ patents, Dr. Billings breaks down the inventioneering mindset: why the best inventions start with a genuine need, how to evaluate an idea before you invest in it, and why the hardest part of any breakthrough is believing it’s possible in the first place.
The episode also features Acellus News highlights, including student achievements in the Lumair Scholars Essay Award and Acellus Academy’s recognition as a top 10 US high school. Dr. John takes viewers on a deep-sea dive into a recent research mission off the coast of Brazil, where scientists discovered 31 new species using cutting-edge laser imaging and 3D camera technology. And Tobias traces the surprisingly chaotic history of temperature measurement — from melting butter and cow body heat to the rival scales of Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Plus, R51 makes his case for having invented bubblegum.
