Anyone Could Have Thought of That
In this episode of Science Live, Dr. Roger Billings and co-host Pajet Monet explore the art and science of inventioneering — and what it really takes to change the world. Drawing inspiration from Thomas Edison’s 1,000+ patents, Dr. Billings breaks down the inventioneering mindset: why the best inventions start with a genuine need, how to evaluate an idea before you invest in it, and why the hardest part of any breakthrough is believing it’s possible in the first place.
The episode also features Acellus News highlights, including student achievements in the Lumair Scholars Essay Award and Acellus Academy’s recognition as a top 10 US high school. Dr. John takes viewers on a deep-sea dive into a recent research mission off the coast of Brazil, where scientists discovered 31 new species using cutting-edge laser imaging and 3D camera technology. And Tobias traces the surprisingly chaotic history of temperature measurement — from melting butter and cow body heat to the rival scales of Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Plus, R51 makes his case for having invented bubblegum.

Great Science Live episode, I enjoyed it as always! It was quite interesting to watch the octopus eat the jelly fish since sea life has always been so wonderful to me. I think it would be a super idea if Acellus could send out researchers and explores to see what more we can discover in the oceanic biome, thanks to the Acellus Team!

Hello everyone, im getting braces on Wednesday!!!
Thomas Edison was more than an inventor-he was a systems thinker whose work laid the foundation for the modern world. His contributions to electricity, sound recording, and early motion picture technology weren’t just breakthroughs; they were the result of rigorous experimentation, relentless iteration, and a deep understanding of how innovation can solve real world problems. His ability to turn ideas into scalable solutions that continue to shape how we live, communicate, and learn inspires me. Edison’s legacy reminds me that true innovation isn’t just about having a brilliant idea-its about building, refining, and improving it until it transforms lives. His relentless pursuit of progress challenges me to think bigger, work smarter, and never stop experimenting.
love science live!
