The Miraculous Octopus

This week join Roger Billings and the Science Live crew in an exploration of one of nature’s most remarkable creatures: the octopus!

We’ll learn about the octopus’s remarkable camouflage abilities and the science that allows them to change color and texture in as little as 200 milliseconds. Did you know they have no backbone and not one, but three hearts! Discover more fascinating facts and fun stories about these remarkably intelligent creatures.

This episode also includes updates on Acellus World – a new cyber school program, and don’t miss the hilarious segment where R51 attempts — with mixed results — to train an octopus named Octagon.

Y’know, considering octopi are so smart, I wonder if they have their own language. And would it be possible to teach them sign language?

I thought this week’s episode of Science Live was an octopus filled adventure. My favorite part of Science Live was the Technology Spotlight With Dr. John. I never knew that Octopus’s enchanting camouflage ability was that intricate. Learning that octopi are actually color blind was insanely interesting, I kept thinking that using their ability must be extremely important. I wonder if maybe we can adapt this camouflage into more things like perhaps maybe input it into clothing to reduce the amount we have to buy? I loved this week’s episode and I can’t wait for next week’s scientific shenanigans Mr. B! (✿◠‿◠)
