How We Make Rockets That Reach the Moon
Join Dr. Roger Billings and the Science Live team as we explore how we make rockets that reach the Moon, featuring NASA’s Artemis II mission — the first crewed return to the Moon in over 50 years!
In this lesson, discover what makes the massive SLS rocket so powerful: its giant solid rocket boosters, liquid hydrogen fuel, and the incredible engineering that lifts millions of pounds into space. You’ll also explore the advanced Orion spacecraft, the groundbreaking laser communication system that beamed HD video from 240,000 miles away, and the record-breaking 252,000-mile journey that took humans farther from Earth than ever before.
Whether you’re a budding space enthusiast, curious about the Artemis program, learning about rocket science, or dreaming of becoming an astronaut, this lesson has something for you. Perfect for students who want to understand the real engineering and technology behind sending rockets — and people — all the way to the Moon and beyond!

how long is the rocket?
I cant wait for the next one!
Wow today amazed me I’m impressed!
On a early video you talked about a planet of water that could support human life but it would take a very long time to get there do you think someday in the future we could get there also with dinosor sorry i missed spelled that.. anyway do you think we will find out more about it soon? anyway that’s all also i’m Emma :3
Fun day today
this the best one when i was loaded.
Me and my sibling watched the Artemis II Splashdown. It was amazing to watch. Really enjoyed this science live, r-51 and Dr. Billings are soo funny, as well as the others. Can’t wait for next week😄

Checking in from Kentucky.
That was really interesting
Rockets are so cool! its crazy how far weve came in tech.
Amazing science live like always!!! Watching this episode has made me really interested in air crafts!! Thank you from Michigan!!
Why didn’t the Artemis crew land on the moon if we have better technology now than we did in the first moon landing? I thought it was so cool we got close to the moon, but it would be more amazing if we landed on the moon!
i saw artemis two launch a month ago
That’s very interesting that grasped me
I love r51 it’s so cool!!! Great video today!!!
I love science lives
I didn’t know the parachutes were that big, thanks for posting this video.
Artemis II was absolutely fantastic! Loved to see the rocket and its components!
I can’t remember if I watched this
in this video i learned about lasers.
this is so cool
cool rockets
I think that the communication laser that Artemis shot out is really cool because it can send a bunch of information all at once. I wonder how long it took to land in the water once they got pulled into Earth on Artemis? I really enjoyed learning about how we make rockets today!
How big are the rockets in real life?
Great show!
Are the protease going on a rocket to go around the moon and the Earth? R-51 I think you should pay more attention about science life maybe one day you might invent something so you got this thanks for teaching me so much about Rockets going around the Moon!

Learning about the Artemis 2 was very interesting thankyou.
How many rockets has NASA made, how many rockets has Space X made? If one has made more than the other, what are the differences in the two that make them so different?
Good video
I love the r51 and all the cool rockets.
Artemis was so cool to watch launch, the rockets looked huge.
I always love watching science live!

hello from sc!
I thought this week’s Science Lives episode was a rocket filled adventure. My favorite part of the Science Live was Dr. John technology spotlight. Learning about the Artemis II mission was stellar. I never knew that NASA was using laser to communicate with the astronauts in space, to share and collect data at similar times. Seeing the intuitive ways the engineers are trying to have them communicate is amazing and I wonder what else can we use this astounding invention for? I thought each segment of Science Live was space filled fun and I can’t wait for next week’s episode Mr. B!
