The Billings Turbine is a hydrogen-powered engine developed by Dr. Roger Billings.
Made my whole household learn about the billings turbine!!!
It’s impressive that Dr. Billings has been working on creating these turbine designs for over 20 years. Sounds like a pure rotary engine turbine may be the solution.
These are so fun to watch!!
The Billings Turbine sounds like a cool invention!
The evolution of air conditioning is interesting! It’s easy to take, what seems like a small thing because we’re so used to it, for granted.
Watching this video from Minnesota!

I liked this episode because it showed how one idea can turn into a real invention with hard work and creativity.
WOW!
The Billings Turbine challenges the idea that conventional turbines are “as good as they get.”
When designing something, list where energy or effort is lost (friction, heat, drag, wasted motion).
Then brainstorm how to redirect or reduce that loss — not just improve what’s already efficient.
My dad used to be a plant manager in a combined cycle power plant producing electricity using both a gas turbine and a steam turbine. Hydrogen power is seen as a clean energy of the future, offering high efficiency with zero emissions.
That was very cool, learning how the AC was invented. Pun intended.
Loved this week’s science live!

“Science doesn’t cost, it pays!” -Dr. Billings
Thank you Tobias for your amazing lesson on air conditioning. The story of Mr. Carrier, was inspirational because not only did he not have the answer just given to him on how to make a functioning air conditioner, that basically controls the temperature and the humidity, he also was challenged with knowing how to construct one. It was also interesting when he was just waiting at a train stop when an idea just struck him. The fog. For him to already have the expertise to know how to make a machinery capable of mixing and also spraying the right amount of mist into his “box” to create the controlled fog also goes to say that an education is also very important in trying to invent and/ or get an idea across.
my dad showed me how to build a PC with him and that was super cool
New cancer treatment options that target just the cancer cells while keeping the healthy cells would be amazing!
Area 51 was funny!
