The Billings Turbine challenges the idea that conventional turbines are “as good as they get.”
When designing something, list where energy or effort is lost (friction, heat, drag, wasted motion).
Then brainstorm how to redirect or reduce that loss — not just improve what’s already efficient.

Thank you Tobias for your amazing lesson on air conditioning. The story of Mr. Carrier, was inspirational because not only did he not have the answer just given to him on how to make a functioning air conditioner, that basically controls the temperature and the humidity, he also was challenged with knowing how to construct one. It was also interesting when he was just waiting at a train stop when an idea just struck him. The fog. For him to already have the expertise to know how to make a machinery capable of mixing and also spraying the right amount of mist into his “box” to create the controlled fog also goes to say that an education is also very important in trying to invent and/ or get an idea across.
