The Miraculous Octopus
This week join Roger Billings and the Science Live crew in an exploration of one of nature’s most remarkable creatures: the octopus!
We’ll learn about the octopus’s remarkable camouflage abilities and the science that allows them to change color and texture in as little as 200 milliseconds. Did you know they have no backbone and not one, but three hearts! Discover more fascinating facts and fun stories about these remarkably intelligent creatures.
This episode also includes updates on Acellus World – a new cyber school program, and don’t miss the hilarious segment where R51 attempts — with mixed results — to train an octopus named Octagon.

Hello from Illinois. I’m surprised that an Octopus can be so much of a miracle.
Sea animals are truly fascinating because while they resemble land animals they carry a specific uniqueness only found in the ocean. However we don’t know much about them very mysterious.
Science live was very interesting.
Never knew that octopuses are this intelligent.
This science live was so cool. I only knew that octopuses had three hearts, I didn’t know they had nine brains too! The proteges are also really funny, the comment about humans having one brain collectively sent me 😂 Can’t wait for the next science live.
Loving the science live inspiration!
Truly fascinating Science LIVE. Speaking as someone who has seen them in large tidal pools before, they really become nearly invisible when they camouflage. Thanks to everyone at Acellus for all your hard work.
The octopus is so cute!!
i love ocean
I loved this episode it’s like entertainment from YouTube mixed with education
I love the way you put the octopus in your video
It’s crazy how little people talk about the bizarre creatures that exist in the oceans. For example, there’s this marine animal called the “feather star” which evolved on Earth before living beings started to evolve blood, so it uses surrounding seawater as an alternative, or, perhaps, a precursor, fluid to blood.
I love learning about all of the creators in the ocean! It is very fascinating.
Thanks for another great science live!
Wow, octopus is so cool!
