How We Make Rockets That Reach the Moon
Join Dr. Roger Billings and the Science Live team as we explore how we make rockets that reach the Moon, featuring NASA’s Artemis II mission — the first crewed return to the Moon in over 50 years!
In this lesson, discover what makes the massive SLS rocket so powerful: its giant solid rocket boosters, liquid hydrogen fuel, and the incredible engineering that lifts millions of pounds into space. You’ll also explore the advanced Orion spacecraft, the groundbreaking laser communication system that beamed HD video from 240,000 miles away, and the record-breaking 252,000-mile journey that took humans farther from Earth than ever before.
Whether you’re a budding space enthusiast, curious about the Artemis program, learning about rocket science, or dreaming of becoming an astronaut, this lesson has something for you. Perfect for students who want to understand the real engineering and technology behind sending rockets — and people — all the way to the Moon and beyond!

One of the Best yet!
i learned that you can eat in space and not feel sick
How to land a rocket ship on the moon
I did not know that Artemis 2 had a new way to communicate with Earth by shooting lasers to one another.
I have a family member who helped create certain spacecraft for NASA. It’s always interesting to see how they build them, and the blueprints they draw out to help. Love from Texas!!
Great video, by the way do you guys have video footage of going around the moon?

how many times did you guys fail to to launched the the artemisia ll rocket until it was successfully launched.
that rocket was sooooo cool! this episode was great!
I’m really excited that this week’s lesson is on the rockets that go to the moon. Dr. John said that they used the gigabit ethernet that we have been talking about on Science Live in the Artemis mission. Tobias talked about the moon station that eventually will be in the moon’s orbit. Astronauts will fly there and then take a lander down to the moon. It was awesome to listen to this Science Live all about going to the moon. I really hope we will have more episodes like this one!
its crazy how space has no gravitational pull
Thank you so much for doing this I love you guys so much tell Mr Roger’s that I love him as my math teacher and I already finished science class for the year and today I am going to finish math so that f I don’t have mark Roger’s i will be sad any way have a good day byeeeeeeeeeeeeee✋🏼🫶🏽😄😃✌🏼🩰

I love science live
wow I loved this science live this is my favorite one so far can’t wait for next week!
What other topics are going to be talked about in the new Acellus coruse?
this is what i found when i looked up what the sold fuel was. “These boosters used solid propellant (a mixture of ammonium perchlorate oxidizer and aluminum fuel) to provide the initial high thrust needed to lift the rocket off the pad and through the dense lower atmosphere” PS i watched the artimas 2 launch from the launch site.
I love science!
Wait, do the science fair projects have to be submitted before the 29th happens, or before it is over? I’ve had due dates work both ways…
and by the way add to the acellus gold store a d.i.y-simple-to-build-easy-to-learn-plus-video-guide-lot-of-pcs-bunch-of-combos rocket kit that you can launch in to the sky and can be easy to make even if you’re 6 or 7 or even 11!!!
This was a awesome class this week! Can’t wait till next week.
Didn’t know rockets were so interesting! GREAT to learn about them today
Comment Wow! so cool!
Imagine how scared I would be if I was in the control room in those six minutes.
Science is the best!
How much money does that take to lift the rocket of the ground?
These last few videos have been especially interesting.
Artemis 2 is an incredible achievement
Wow! I did not realize how heavy rockets are. Super cool!
I can’t wait for the next one!
Flying saucer made me laugh so much.😂
