Hubble Telescope Glasses
June 25, 2025 • EPISODE 271
Learn more about the incredible story behind NASA’s solution to the Hubble Space Telescope’s flawed mirror. Discover how scientists and astronauts used an ingenious optical correction—essentially “glasses” for the telescope—to turn a near-disaster into one of NASA’s greatest engineering triumphs.

This was great, thank you! I had no idea that the Hubble telescope had glasses.
The Hubble Telescope Glasses are amazing.
Thank you for another great episode!!
Did they ever take Hubble completely apart or do the still use glasses?
I enjoyed learning about the Hubble Space Telescope.
LOVED LEARNING ABOUT THE HUBBLE TELESCOPE.
Space is so cool and I love learning about it!
thanks dr.b for the great video!
I’m always excited for a new video
love this!
love the video
Great episode ! I love learning about new things with Acellus!
The magic show sounds so cool. Great episode
Very interesting episode, I love anything about Space!
That’s what I am learning in science right now lol! (space)
The idea of a telescope is so fascinating.
This is really fascinating!
Learning about Hubble telescopes is an interesting thing I enjoyed this video .
What makes the different colors in the galaxy?
Wow, I have never seen anything like this before.
I love it
THIS WAS COOL!
I think it’s amazing that in a time of desperation that they were able to come to gather as a collective and become triumphant in their almost disaster. That’s very inspiring to me.
That’s fascinating. Thank for this episode.
Amazing Live!
It’s crazy how such a small mistake could cause something so major, 1/50th of a hair sized mistake blurred it *that* much. Wow.
Telescopes are so interesting!
This was Amazing!!
that was really cool to learn that even the telescope needed “glasses”
NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has always fascinated me, I’m really glad they made a Science Live about it!
The fact that the great idea of fixing the space telescope came to a guy while he was showering is just amazing .
Love the video.
the best video!!
I really enjoy learning about how stars are formed and how they shine. The visuals and explanation were amazing, thank you for making science fun.
this was very interesting learning more about this telescope.
This episode is a good one. Telescopes are so cool.
Love Dr. B’s videos!
Thank you for the lesson.
Telescopes are really cool!
The way that the hubble telescope was fixed took imagination. I really like all of the scientific information every week.
Amazing!!
I love space! I love the ocean as well!
Magic show thing sounds cool.🆒 I love you so much and there’s lots of courses that I’ve been through and I love it. I wish I could come to the Acellus World I can’t I have other plans. I love Dr. Roger Billings. You bring pride to every student and I love that he makes science fun.
I’m happy to be in this school!
Watching from Korea
I love lying on my trampoline in the backyard, looking into the sky, and looking for different shapes made from stars.
The work done to correct the clarity of the telescope is quite amazing.
Pretty cool episode! It’s amazing to me how this tech can be thrown off by such minuscule little things. 1/50th of a human hair causing that much of an issue for something so high-tech is crazy. Thanks, God bless.
So insane to think about how far technology has come! Love this!
The museum joke was priceless. I never knew the lenses dimmed the image.
R-51 is the best person on Science Live
this episode was super interesting!
I really like space. The photos were cool.
I’ve always heard of Hubble but never realized how insane it was!
I want r-51 as my teacher.
I love the r-51
I love space that is all I think of. I love Science LIVE😄
Telescopes are so interesting but also useful
Great video
Wow! I never realized there were so many asteroids not included in the millions that are apart of the asteroid belt, and other groups of asteroids. I always forget how big the universe really is, and I’m always amazed when I see it put into perspective.
Cool video today
I feel bad for r-51
Its really amazing what people can think of when they put panic aside, and start rationally putting things together.
R-51 made me laugh so hard lol!
I am very thankful for this school and the amount of effort you put in to make it as successful as it is!
I am so looking forward to watching the Acellus World episode.
It’s kind of like going into a whole new world when using a telescope! At least for me, I used to have a telescope at my old school and it was actually kind of fun to use from time to time. It’s insane how well it can enhance your vision and help you laser in on a certain object that you would place under its light and use the lens to focus on whatever you may place under the light.
Love this💗💗
The pictures of the fixed Hubble telescope were breathtaking. The OPTIMUS PRIME of EDUCATION🤣😂 I was excited about Acellus World but knowing now, that I’ll be able to see the conspiracy theories class, I am exuberant! When will the conspiracy theories class be broadcasted on science live?
THANK YOU FOR THE BEST HOMESCHOOL PROGRAM EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Telescopes are really cool!
Super interesting and I loved r-51!
I just think that it’s so amazing, how much we dont know about space. There are billions upon billions of galaxy’s out there, I cant stop but wonder, are there different planets out there? Is there planets outside of galaxy’s? Its just so amazing to think, we are only one planet, and there are so many things bigger, it just blows me away.
The Hubble telescope is amazing, and it captured so many awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing the information about the mirror issues.
Interesting facts!
How fast can light reflect on mirror’s?
It was funny when r51 walked away, as soon as the phone rang.
I so enjoyed this
R-51 got my dying! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Telescopes are awesome!
What thats so amazing it captured that many galaxies in one picture, it’s so cool seeing how many galaxies there really are!
Can’t believe how we went from discovering how to make fire to how we can see other plants from earths stratosphere.
great live
Exciting!
I really liked learning about the mirror on the Hubble telescope. It’s especially neat how they made glasses for the telescope so they could get a more clear image
