I wonder if you could create a really thin nanotube lubricant by having millions of adjacent nanotubes, with another layer above, running perpendicular to those nanotubes, so that they literally roll past each other. Then it would be just two nanotubes thick, and it wouldn’t degrade over time. It would basically be a really tiny ball bearing.
