Inventioneering

November 26, 2025  •  EPISODE 288

What does it really take to bring ideas to life? In this episode, Dr. Roger Billings takes us deeper into the world of inventioneering—the dynamic mix of creativity, engineering, and problem-solving that turns imagination into real-world inventions. He shows how inventioneering isn’t limited to tech or science—it can be applied to any creative or practical project. If you’ve ever had a spark of inspiration, this episode will help you learn how to shape it into something meaningful and impactful.

I did not know a capacitor was a cheap battery. When I heard that I immediately thought of back to the future and watching it with my mother and wondering what a flex capacitor was at the time. It was very cool to realize what that meant. I also wanted to say I thought it was pretty cool that the prize for the science fair was a navy cruise in California. That sounds amazing although your flight sounded terrible. Thank you for sharing those stories.

What a fascinating bit of history! Benjamin Franklin’s scientific curiosity was truly groundbreaking. While Alessandro Volta invented the chemical battery, it was Franklin who coined the term ‘battery’ itself and established the fundamental concepts of positive and negative charge. This work was absolutely essential, laying the conceptual groundwork for all future electrical storage and technology. His genius didn’t just help the world; it truly powered the foundation of the modern electrical age
