How to Invent
November 19, 2025 • EPISODE 287
How do great inventions begin? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings breaks down the process of inventing—showing how curiosity, creativity, and simple problem-solving can grow into real innovations. Using Morse code as an example, he explains how messages are sent and demonstrates it with a telegraph key. A fun, practical look at how anyone can start turning ideas into inventions.

The history of Morse code is fun to hear about.
Inventing is so interesting.
Inventing has been a big part in our lives for sure!
One day I’ll event something, people use everyday.
Wow 🤩
I loved this episode! My favorite part was the Technology Spotlight. There was a robot that was trained to fall in a specfic way to not break itself. It was trained using a computer psychics model that tought the AI how to fall properly. Once training was complete, it was added to the physical robot.
Morse code is pretty cool!
It was interesting to hear the process of inventing.
Morse codes seem so fun
Thanks to vector technology, I have improved my math skills this year.
Inventing is always so interesting!
I love learning about morse code, and would like to know more about it. “SOS” is my favorite
I am trying to invent something, this will help me a lot! Thank you!😊
I would love to invent something one day!
I’m so glad their are so many people that love to invent and have fun making it!
Question. What part of the invention process was the hardest, and how did you get past it?
I always wanted to invent something, now i know how to start!
these lessons help me so much!!!
It would be cool to invent something in future.
I am so fascinated by morse code!
It would be so cool to say you invented something. Hard to think of something new with all of the things we already have.
I just love Acellus!
I liked learning about the robot programing!
What does it take to be considered a good invention? To make it to the “big leagues” what would one have to do? Let’s say one does have a college degree, can they make their life income off inventing random things to display to the world?
It was interesting learning about how inventing starts.
I would love to invent something in the future!
I love inventing!!
I love inventing! its so interesting!
Morse code is an amazing tool to help send messages. I heard they used it for military and on titanic.
So cool! Will be trying some of these strategies!
Awesome!
I want to invent something that pertains to making a better world for all! Scientists are so interesting to learn about!
Can’t wait to invent something of my own!
I want to invent something someday.
Favorite part of my week!
this is so cool!
I watched how to invent.
Thanks dr billings
Go science liveee!!!!!

Morse code has always been really fun to learn about
This my fav science live yet!!!
I just love these!!!
Science live is so so fun!!!
