How to Invent

November 19, 2025  •  EPISODE 287

How do great inventions begin? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings breaks down the process of inventing—showing how curiosity, creativity, and simple problem-solving can grow into real innovations. Using Morse code as an example, he explains how messages are sent and demonstrates it with a telegraph key. A fun, practical look at how anyone can start turning ideas into inventions.

It makes me and my parents very upset that people are not using the scholarship correctly. When you make a promise your should keep it! Plus, Science Live is so cool. I learn neat things all the time. I’ve learned how to make a radio using a paper clip and a razor. I also learned about soldering and thought that was awesome, so my parents bought me a soldering set and I am learning how to do it myself. I think if the kids would just watch Science Live they would find things that they like too, especially r51. He is so funny!
