How We Make Rockets That Reach the Moon
Join Dr. Roger Billings and the Science Live team as we explore how we make rockets that reach the Moon, featuring NASA’s Artemis II mission — the first crewed return to the Moon in over 50 years!
In this lesson, discover what makes the massive SLS rocket so powerful: its giant solid rocket boosters, liquid hydrogen fuel, and the incredible engineering that lifts millions of pounds into space. You’ll also explore the advanced Orion spacecraft, the groundbreaking laser communication system that beamed HD video from 240,000 miles away, and the record-breaking 252,000-mile journey that took humans farther from Earth than ever before.
Whether you’re a budding space enthusiast, curious about the Artemis program, learning about rocket science, or dreaming of becoming an astronaut, this lesson has something for you. Perfect for students who want to understand the real engineering and technology behind sending rockets — and people — all the way to the Moon and beyond!

i didnt know that was how rockets were made
i wanna go to space one day that would be cool
wow! I didn’t know that there was so much to learn about Rocket ships. I wonder what will be next.
Humans should definitely NOT become a multiplanetary species! There are numerous theories and pieces of work that tell us exactly how that is a bad idea, such as All Tommorrows, the Martian Chronicles, the Dark Forest Theory, and even Aliens! Humans can barely handle living on one planet, let alone multiple.
i luv science live
going to space is so cool!
The new English course seems cool!
Hello science

It’s crazy that nasa had to wait 6 minutes until the capsule could respond!
I love science live
it would be cool if we had access to the moon or mars one day
I would love to be an astronaut and I would love to be on the SLS
Great lesson!
How did they get the lasers so precise?
Crazy that the astronauts could see the light that reflected off the earth! And BTW i was wondering if there was a way I could see my comments bc I feel like that none of my comments have actually been posted
is there a limit to how many cameras we can put in space?
how can we be sure that they actually went around the moon and have we actually been on the moon?
This one has been especially intuitive, I am happy to hear more.
rockets are really interesting.
Science lives are so awesome

Hello from Ohio
This was such an interesting Science Live! I loved hearing about Artemis 2 and their successful mission! That is such an amazing experience and I am glad they got home safely. They accomplished an amazing thing and the photos they took were beautiful.
So cool what rockets can do and how they make it possible to people to tracel to space. Very interesting.
great live
I think that is it so amazing people fly to the moon and have actually LANDED on the moon!!
I liked this video alot.
Great Live
It was so amazing to hear about Artemis 2! Never realized there was an Artemis 1.
I really like science live. Thank you Roger Billings for making Acellus.
-Israel Netherton
soooo cool
I think space would be amazing to go to, like the artemis 2 that came back you know
i like pajet flag.
My favorite parts of the video are where Dr Joshua talked about the new Acellus program, the program is called college prep featuring Trace Gibson. Another thing is where Tobias talked about how the Artemis two and NASA were sending lasers back and forth with data from the Moon. I like where Dr John talked about how the NASA crew that went into space, and how their toilet broke and how he showed us pictures of Earth from near the Moon. It was really cool how Dr Roger Billings talked about before his mentor Bill Leer died he was making a plane that had a propeller in the back of the plan instead of the front, and after Bill Leer died his wife Mia Leer called Roger Billings and “Said that darn man he left me to finish his plane but I don’t know anything about planes.” About two year’s later she called Roger Billings and said “It flew it flew.” Then Roger said “What flew and who is this.” Then Mia said “The Leer propeller it flew, it flew.” also like when R51 said he invented the Artemis two, then put fake moon rocks and said that they were moon rock, and then Roger Billings said “Oh R51 those aren’t moon rocks what’s wrong with you.” R51 responded “Nothing’s wrong with me I am just an ordinary guy.” Then R51 pulled out mars rocks and said “they smell musky.” My aunt said “How come from Earth the Moon look’s far away, but from the Moon Earth look’s close to the moon.”
This science live was so cool like I knew rockets were complex but not so cool
I would also think that the moon is farther than ten times around the earth
This was an amazing video.
To be honest I didn’t really think we can improve so much more but to actually see and hear about it makes me realize we only just have started and it gets me excited. If we could really be able to go to mars I would 100% visit. It would be like travelling, but instead it would be into space and beyond it.
I love learning about rockets
I was so captivated by todays live incredible!
what if we could get a house on the moon that has o2 and power.
I think rockets are so cool.
How do you make a rocket reach the moon.
love the moon
the space ship could go from la to new york in 6 minutes
Loved This Live!
If any even were to arise we now have the capabilities to go somewhere else >:)
if i ever go to space i would wanna float up in the air and do a back flip.
So interesting! Rockets are awesome.
How long did it take you to finish your friends airplane?
