How My Training As An Inventioneer Altered Ethernet

Everyone said it was impossible. Engineers laughed and called it ‘The Billings Folly’ — as a joke. Then the entire internet adopted it, and now the whole world uses it.
Dr. Roger Billings tells the inside story of how full duplex gigabit Ethernet was invented, rejected at IEEE standards meetings, and eventually became the global standard behind modern internet, streaming video, and AI.
Discover the inventions that made it possible — the concentrator, the equalizer circuit, and the balanced hybrid circuit — and hear what happened when Ron Crane, the father of Ethernet himself, stepped in to defend it.

Hello from TN!
So fun!! I lovee these lives!
i love the computer chips
Hello from Illinois!
hello from tennessee!
Hi from Texas!!
hi from Illinois
I love to learn about the Ethernet! My mom said that’s what she used to use.
Science is cool
Thank you for this weeks video
I’m so glad that we don’t have collisions anymore and can stream videos. The Proteges explanation never fails as always.
Hiii from Houston
hello from nyc
Comment Great Science Live 🙂
best one ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from texas!!!
hey from sc this is a fun video
HELLO FROM LAS VEGAS
I love this week
Hello from MD, really enjoyed the live tonight
this is such an interesting lesson
Hello from Wy!
its crazy! ethernet is so ahead of time!
Thank you for Science Live and your inventions.
Love this science live
From Belize
This week was excellent.
Rodger Billings is so great at solving problems, like the ethernet collisions!
I’m so happy to have a cellular regular school was so distracting I also got sick alot and now I focus and dont get sick thanks to acellus
Hey from NC!
greetings from DE!
Maybe a network would help to catch fish.
Heyyyy from NJ
Hello from Minnesota 😉
Hey from Tennessee!!! 😊
this one is great so far
Learning about a concentrator was fun
That was a pretty funny joke about going to the sun during the night to avoid the high heat. You can’t solve a problem if you cannot identify the problem correctly.
Hello from TX
Every Wednesday I learn something new.
i learned about gigabyte networking
Amazing video tonight guys! Thank you, see y’all next week!
Hello from Neveda!
What event in your life made want to pursue a career in science.
she is from Exoplanet Copper9 how is she a worker drone?
This is so cool!
Thank you! I love science live
I like DR. Billing’s Ethernet story.
Very interesting information on the ethernet system.
Science live is so exciting and so much fun 😆😉
Hi from ohio
here from Georgia! I actually liked this live.
I am interested in making solar power better. Somehow use it not for solar farms that isn’t good for the land or cost, but on top of everyday items more often. Especially in cities on buildings. We need to make the factories carbon neutral so they aren’t polluting the world when they make the panels. Sunshine is free!
Thank you!
Hello from AVL, NC
I am glad I got Acellus I love it. I love science live too.
i loved this episode so much!
Who was the first person to invent wires and cords?
It really is funny how some of the most simple solutions can improve the world.
Happy wednesday, ready to learn something new!
Thank you Dr. B and the Acellus team for another amazing science live!!!
I love y’all live so much
thank you
Hey! R-51 has returned! where else did he run off to over the week?
I really like watching Science Live
I love to learn on Science Live!
Woahhh! So cool.
hi from arkansas
This is so nice !!
Hi from NC
Hello from Houston!!
