How My Training As An Inventioneer Altered Ethernet
Unable to load video? Click here.
Everyone said it was impossible. Engineers laughed and called it ‘The Billings Folly’ — as a joke. Then the entire internet adopted it, and now the whole world uses it.
Dr. Roger Billings tells the inside story of how full duplex gigabit Ethernet was invented, rejected at IEEE standards meetings, and eventually became the global standard behind modern internet, streaming video, and AI.
Discover the inventions that made it possible — the concentrator, the equalizer circuit, and the balanced hybrid circuit — and hear what happened when Ron Crane, the father of Ethernet himself, stepped in to defend it.

I didn’t know you couldn’t send gigabit speeds over copper. 😼
using ethernet every day is amazing and helps us do things easier.
I love science live very much.
very interesting
Hello from Rhys
Regarding the Ethernet collision problem, what is the most important networking challenge we’re facing today?
Hi from CT!
Thank you now can I tell my parents what a half duplex and a full duplex:D
How do they not collide?
Crazy to think of how much we use internet
It is true.
