Here’s a cool idea that could work to destroy asteroids that are headed towards earth. Moving an asteroid with a satellite is like trying to move a cargo ship with an apple, Instead, completely destroying the asteroid is the far more effective plan. The Penetrator is a Tungsten rod dart about a meter long, that is placed in the path of the asteroid, and that’s it. It’s really that simple. Asteroids move at up to 90,000 KMPH, and the heaviest of these are heavier than the pyramids. Of course, it doesn’t matter which object is moving, they collide with the same force. The penetrator plunges into the asteroid, melting instantly, and the force delivered is enough to blast the asteroid into a dust cloud. If done far enough out, the dust cloud will create a meteor shower and become harmless. Cool right?
Anyways, this is Lucas T. Checking in from Alabama.
