IC – Divide by 3
How can tiny transistors do math? In this episode of Science LIVE with Roger Billings, discover how integrated circuits use logic gates and on-and-off transistors to multiply, divide, and process numbers. See how a simple “divide by 3” circuit is built—and how millions of these tiny switches working together make today’s powerful computers possible.
Roger Billings also talks about the engineering behind the Falcon 9 from SpaceX. In addition, learn how gallium could be used to generate hydrogen as a clean energy source, highlighting exciting possibilities for future energy innovation.

this is really neat. I love these videos. 👍
I love learning more about science everyday!
I really enjoyed this epesoed.
I wonder if Gallium can melt in any other liquid other than water?
I am so amazed with how much you can learn from this. Thank you Science Live!!!
Learning about gallium was really interesting! I didn’t know that a metal could be turned into hydrogen.
I live in NE . I went to Kansas City for Worlds of Fun and on the way back in the dark I saw the Acellus building!
Science live is my favorite!!!
Much love from Texas!
The proteges make understanding complicatted science easier.
I really like the proteges they are so funny!
I did not know that you could use Gallium to make Hydrogen, that is so cool.
Science Live is awesome!
Watching from Indiana, I think science lives are very interesting.
I can see what Dr. Joshua is getting at. If you never set goals once you’re starting out as an adult, you won’t really get anywhere in life. I knew that setting goals and holding yourself accountable was something you should do no matter how old or young you are, but I never thought of it that way. I’m honestly kind of moved by that once sentence!
science live is sooo funny!!
Science live is always the best!!!!!!
I thought the stuff about gallium was interesting about turning it into a hydrogen source.
It’s cool that someone thought of using 2 speakers for movies.
this video is very well put together! I also loved the gallium!
Since you were shortly on the topic of rockets, how do you think the technology in rockets will progress within the next 10 years?
Coming from Texas! Love the Acellus program. Have a wonderful day !!!!!!
what i learned today was the 10 position switch that’s what i call it because if you turn the switch to the line that’s were the electricity will go.
It was funny how r 51 made the potential meter!
I LOVE SCIENCE LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello from Virginia! I always enjoy the video.
Loved this episode, Thanks Dr. Billings!!!
When is the best time to start your college plan or tech school plan? I want to go into construction.
The Gallium thing could surely be one of the next big steps in the adoption of hydrogen energy, converting a metal into fuel could be quite useful.
i love acellus
It was really cool learning about the potentiometer and how it changes the amount of electricity that can flow.

You are so sweet and so so funny!😂 Thank you for teaching us
I really loved the cowboy part with the circuits and things
A new Bactria that detects cancer???? I wonder if that could be life changing in the future. How’d they even start this experiment?
Science live is awesome!
I like watching the Proteges.
Researchers at the University of Waterloo are developing engineered bacteria designed to target and attack cancer cells. These bacteria can thrive inside tumors and be programmed to release substances that help destroy cancer from within. The goal is to create more precise treatments that cause less harm to healthy cells than traditional therapies.
Science is amazing.
I get the point of binary but still I use arduino though.proteges are so cool and smart so is Dr.Roger Billings and Dr.Pajet Monet

I love the gallium idea!!!!!
this is the reason why science is my favourite subject
An ic Divide by 3 is an integrated circuit that reduces an input frequency to one-third of its original value. It is commonly used in digital electronics and timing applications where specific frequency control is needed, and of course the secret weapon was a girl.
math is the best!
I would like to learn more about the metal in the spoon that melted
When are we expecting to use the hydrogen to help our planet?
I love the gallium idea very very smart!
Hello from WV
hey I have a question what was your favorite science live video? ):
