Tuned Radio
January 28, 2026 • EPISODE 295
How do radios tune in to specific stations? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings explores the tuned radio—how circuits are adjusted to select particular frequencies so we can hear one station clearly among many. Learn why tuning is essential for radio reception and how the first wireless radio signal crossed the Atlantic Ocean, launching a new era of global communication.

Wifi is that old🤯
Nice. I watched the video
I liked it I like the part about the winter butterflies
Great DJ stories- excited about the radio.
i liked lerning abot a black hole
Watching from Tennessee
What inspired IEEE to want to create Wi-Fi?
I love science live!
It was funny when R-51 made the winter butterflies.
Wow! Great episode!
I like learning how adjusting the circuit lets the radio pick up different stations.
this science live was very interesting
Thank you for the video this week.
i liked the science live video this week!
Hello from Kentucky!
crazy how wifi changed everything for technoligy
I enjoyed learning about Wi-Fi and where and when it was invented.
Great information! Cant wait for next week!
Electromagnetic energy is so intriguing!
Learning about the radio tuning was interesting.
How do you build the radio?
Learning about WiFi was interesting.
Black holes are very interesting!
watching from sc
Watching from south carolina
Wonderful new episode!
The computer string looked fun to use
Have a great week everyone
I thought it was really interesting that scientists created a computer chip as a thread that can withstand basically anything and be woven into clothing!
Dr Billings is really entertainging!
Great video! Highlight of my week!
loved this! Learned so much.
I loveddd learning about the black hole
Where did radio waves come from?
This episode was interesting!
Learning about the radio is cool to me.
I think it’s so interesting how something(s) can change the future so much.
This science live is still so peak 😀 I like learning about science it’s fun :3
^_^ _

I love this video! Can’t wait for next week!
I love Science Live.
Loved this science live! Learning about the radios was pretty cool.
Dr. Billings is a G I love these videos!
So good! Can’t wait for next weeks video!
I think that the idea of Smart clothes sounds really cool and could be beneficial.
Smart clothes would be so cool!
Science Live is so cool
If WiFi wasn’t invented then I wouldn’t be able to attend Acellus.
Thank you for the video! We enjoyed it 🙂
I enjoyed learning about the engineer from Australia. Their accents are so cool.
These computer threads would be a great spy technology!
Learning about how wifi came about is so interesting. I think it’s something I often don’t appreciate enough. I also think it’s very interesting. That new technologies are being made for people who need them specifically it’s something that I really enjoy studying and learning more about. I think this technology could help people who are not able to speak and hear like some of us able to it would be so nice to be able to communicate better. That’s why I love learning about ASL because it helps me communicate with deaf people.
Thank you for the video. I enjoyed it!
On inventions the world’s first camera was on there and i thought that was really cool.
Loved the pirate ship! And learning about wifi was cool.
Computers have gotten so small it’s amazing!
Love these videos. Can’t wait until next weeks video.
Awesome! can’t wait for next week’s episode!
That is so crazy that the they are making computer chips into threads! I want a shirt with a cool design!
Always love these lives! Love learning from you!
Our world would look drastically different if we did not have wifi. Science is cool!
The way cameras have evolved is magnificent !
I thought it was interesting how Wifi is a made up name! I never knew that.
Wow radio has came a long way over the years.
We are trying to make our own radio this weekend
That is interesting how WiFi got its name.
wifi is crazy and i loved learning about its name
i loved learning about morse code
I’m so grateful that you guys offer this program !
yay science!! thank you!
I like having wifi.

i really did like this video
Thank you for teaching me this!
The Black Hole is so weird
I would want a radio in the acellus store.
Blue monster galaxies sound cool
Black holes are scary!
thank you for taking your time to do this!!
The size of components in the string is amazing. Sometimes what man can do is completely surprising.
It is amazing how a small thread can be a whole computer! VR gloves would be awesome!
WI-FI is super cool
When we landed on the moon the computers were so big. It’s crazy that now they can fit in a thread. I wonder if these threads could eventually be used for people who injured their spinal cords to walk again?
Why would someone want to see a black hole?
I am going to try and build a fox hole radio. That looks really interesting.
i get to graduate a year early thanks to acellus. truly grateful
Crazy how much radio frequency has changed since the 1920’s
Here ready to learn about tuned radio!
I love fashion. Smart fabric will be pretty amazing if it comes to be.

How far can technology advance before research and innovation stagnates?
What are blue monster galaxies
Another great science live episode!
LOVED THIS ONE
I love learning stuff from here!
Great science live. Keep up the Amazing vids
Wow! Technology is very important for day to day life! I recently researched an inventor named “Hedy Lamaar”. She created frequency hopping during WWII to help stop the jamming of allied torpedo guidance signals! She also was an actress, and model! God bless!
