Tuned Radio
January 28, 2026 • EPISODE 295
How do radios tune in to specific stations? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings explores the tuned radio—how circuits are adjusted to select particular frequencies so we can hear one station clearly among many. Learn why tuning is essential for radio reception and how the first wireless radio signal crossed the Atlantic Ocean, launching a new era of global communication.

I’ve been listening to you talk about the components of a PC for years, so everything was easier to understand when I was taught how to build a functioning gaming PC. Long story short, I just want to say thank you for this amazing opportunity, AGAINN, its helped me in many ways and I’m appreciative that learning how to build a gaming PC was easier to comprehend because of your lives and your courses. THANK YOUU. You’ve taught me alot. 💞

Morse code was becoming very popular and in 1894 his mom bought a magazine about Heinrich Hertz and his experiences with circuits in Marconi was very interested. It sparked an idea from Marconi and he decided he was going to make a telegraph with no wires he managed to do so and created the first telegraph with no wires at the age of 21.
