Tuned Radio
January 28, 2026 • EPISODE 295
How do radios tune in to specific stations? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings explores the tuned radio—how circuits are adjusted to select particular frequencies so we can hear one station clearly among many. Learn why tuning is essential for radio reception and how the first wireless radio signal crossed the Atlantic Ocean, launching a new era of global communication.

I really like this live seminar! From China.
hi from texas
I really love watching these!
Loved the butterflies *
It’s honestly crazy that there are so many people that do online, but that’s how you know the school is amazing!
Once again an excellent science live!
This was one of my favorite episodes.
Awesome video! Hello from Kansas. Hope everyone’s doing good after the snowstorm!!
My comment is missing. i think it is wild that a computer chip is thread like, and that they based the design off sushi.
Fun stream, learned a lot 🙂
I can not wait for the flying class to come out!
So cool can’t wait for next week’s!
I think having a computer and a thread is so interesting. Wow I love this.
I loved today’s topics, especially the mini computer thread invention! I think we should have LED radio receiving, WiFi connecting mini computer threads in the Acellus store!!
The pirate bit was cool!
Todays live was the best
We are in Texas watching Science Live!
What real use could having a small computer on the sleeve of your shirt really be? It seems like it would be more of a hassle, yes it could survive the heat of a washer, but could it survive the constant rumbling? Being crunched up? What would power it? I just don’t see much use for it, when we already have a phone in our pockets 90% of the time, so what could this be useful for that we couldn’t already do? The idea for paralyzed people would be amazing, but I just don’t see the benefit in shirts.
That was the funniest episode of Science Live that I have ever seen! I loved it!
First time watching, and I thought it was great! I never thought that something like wifi wouldnt be named after something to do with it. Also you should put the radio that you have to build in the store!
Such a cool live today i loved it!!!! i love the idea of being able to have a whole entire computer in thread thats so cool!!!!!!!!!!
Hello from Arizona
What an amazing lesson i’m really enjoying learning about this.
how people found out how to use radio raves is cool
the fact that we can fit a computer in a thread that is able to be twisted in 180 turn and not just stop it from not working is the best that is why science is just great
I loved learning about wifi because of wifi I am able to do my school and watch science lives 🙂
I really like science live!
How does the weather impact WiFi?
I always thought that WI-FI meant something but it doesn’t.
You’re great Mr. Billings!
This was very fun to watch along with the short pirate scenes. Very entertaining!
maybe they can make a self drying jacket with those threads

Love science live from Texas
Butterflies are my absolute favorite!!
I like how they built the Wi fi for the computer.
This was so interesting! like always thank you for teaching us.
A computer chip in a thread?? If I ever saw that I would never guess its for a computer!
It would be awesome to have an electronic shirt!

Are you able to broadcast radio waves from one specific direction?
you arre very right! you do have to think about everything on the intenet
I found out the idea of Wi-Fi came from the name of a data transmission in 1997
Yes I would love if you could put the R51 radio in the Acellus gold store!

I think adding the radio to the store would be a great idea!
Hello from Oklahoma!
No, it’s a bad idea, we got old man Joe talking on the radio. I’m thinking there might be a stalker on the radio; that’s not a good idea.
It amazes me how smart some people can be!
