Fun fact: Overview
Black mold can grow faster in high radiation areas because it uses a pigment called melanin to convert ionizing radiation into energy through a process called radiosynthesis. This process, which is similar to photosynthesis in plants, allows the fungus to use radiation as a food source, causing it to thrive where other organisms would be harmed or die.
