Inventioneering
November 26, 2025 • EPISODE 288
What does it really take to bring ideas to life? In this episode, Dr. Roger Billings takes us deeper into the world of inventioneering—the dynamic mix of creativity, engineering, and problem-solving that turns imagination into real-world inventions. He shows how inventioneering isn’t limited to tech or science—it can be applied to any creative or practical project. If you’ve ever had a spark of inspiration, this episode will help you learn how to shape it into something meaningful and impactful.

Inventing something isn’t fast. It takes many steps and sometimes will span over multiple people. Such as the 9 volt battery. The 9 volt battery was invented but only due to inspiration of Ben Franklin’s Leyton Jar.
Inventioneering is pretty cool. I have never heard of it before
I LOVE ACELLUS!

I LOVE watching these!!!!!
My dad was on the Blue Angels and we used to watch them land the jets every Sunday in Pensacola.
I love R-51 so much!! LOL
R51 is so funny. I love Science Live.
First, we talked about the Leyden Jar, which was a machine that created electricity hundreds of years ago. Benjamin Franklin tried to re-create the machine but with more jars. He also made the first batteries and tried to cook a turkey with it. Unfortunately, he was hurt badly when he tried to cook with science. The battery evolved into the Voltaic Pile all the way to the battery we know today. And it was all because of Benjamin Franklin.
On Acellus Gold we learned about the scholarship and the requirements of it. You must watch Science Live 75% of the time, or else your scholarship is revoked. You can watch Science Live on the website or, as a student, you can go to the Acellus app and watch it yourself. And parents can make sure your child is watching it in the parent section.
Hey Acellus! Why do we experience gravity as a force pulling us down when technically, it is the result of a curvature in space?
I think we experience gravity as a force pulling us down because, according to Einstein’s theory of general relativity, mass (like the Earth) warps the fabric of spacetime, creating a curve objects, including us, are simply following this natural, curved path through spacetime, which leads them towards the center of the mass. The pull we feel is actually a force from the Earth’s surface stopping us from following this natural geodesic path!
I hope I can invent something big one day! Like something to help with climate change.
Never knew batteries were named after canons, so many odd things in this vast and undiscovered world can’t wait for next time !
I thought that story of Mr Billings in the jet was funny!
I love jets! They are so awesome! One day I wanna fly one!!
Thank you for always putting so much effort into these Science Lives!
If atoms cannot cannot be destroyed and leave no trace, nor can atoms be created out of absolutely nothing, how was our universe structured in the first place?
I love these science lives they are so educational and fun!
Thank you science live! I really enjoyed this episode. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
It was exciting to hear about your adventures on the Naval Science Cruise. I also enjoyed hearing about the experiments with the Lataan jar and how that lead to the batteries we use today!
This might be a good career field for me.
I think it would be really cool to be an NASA test pilot. I liked how they made the shape of the plane to limit the sonic boom.

This was so cool it was awesome to see how things are made.
r51 is hilarious!
Happy Thanksgiving! I really enjoyed this week’s video. =)
Dr. B is so smart. Hope you had a good thanksgiving.
My dad said that the technology to make Concorde fly was at least as high as the technology to put man on the moon. I wonder if that is true.
The X59 jet design is very interesting. I wonder how the design would be adapted for commercial airlines.
Awesome! Seeing the X-59 in action is quite cool.
This is the best show in the WORLD!

I really enjoy these science live video and learning about so many neat things. I thought it was neat learning about batteries and sound.
I always wondered how people built buildings that can stay while an earthquake happens. How do they remain safe and what makes them stay intact?
acellus is amazing
The Leyden Jar experiment is so interesting to learn about! Experiments revolving around electricity never cease to amaze me.

I think batteries are really important for lots of things, its good that they were invented.
When was the first rechargeable battery invented?
R-51 is so funny, I love science live.
I’m excited to learn about Inventioneering, thank you
My favorite part about this Science L!VE is learning about the jet with the long nose, it is cool that the longer nose and tail makes the sonic boom quieter.
