How to Invent

November 19, 2025  •  EPISODE 287

How do great inventions begin? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings breaks down the process of inventing—showing how curiosity, creativity, and simple problem-solving can grow into real innovations. Using Morse code as an example, he explains how messages are sent and demonstrates it with a telegraph key. A fun, practical look at how anyone can start turning ideas into inventions.

Do you think robots will take over different jobs in the future? I think coming up with an invention and inventing takes a lot of hard work, but you should always try if you believe in something.

I’ve always thought about how people back then were geniuses to have invented so many of the things that we enjoy today. It’s so true that when we are in need of something we are much more likely to work for it than if we had so much already. I really admire all of the hard-working men and women that continue to renovate and improve the things we use day to day. I hope I can continue to learn and stay motivated so that I can contribute as well. Thank you!
