How to Invent
November 19, 2025 • EPISODE 287
How do great inventions begin? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings breaks down the process of inventing—showing how curiosity, creativity, and simple problem-solving can grow into real innovations. Using Morse code as an example, he explains how messages are sent and demonstrates it with a telegraph key. A fun, practical look at how anyone can start turning ideas into inventions.

Thank you for the science live.
I love science live
This one was really fun
I never knew that @ from emails was that different, I always learn something new from science live. 😁
The hardest part of inventing is figuring out how to make the thing you want to invent.
Heya, watching from Murfreesboro, TN. I love watching the Science Lives. Tobias is my favorite
What are the credits you get if you watch Science Live? Will you still get the credit if you watch Science Live but not live, just through out the week? For example, I watched this on Thursday, not Wednesday.
The falling robots are SO CUTE!!! It’s really cool how they invented a way to teach them how to fall without getting “hurt”
Commen
We always watch, we love Science Live as a Family

I thought that the part where Tobias was talking about e-mail was really interesting.
loved the live tonight, sending love from Kentucky!
Science live is the most fun thing to do on Acellus in my opinion
I loved this live. It was very interesting to learn about Morse Code.
What is the most efficient way to find out if what you’ve invented hasn’t been invented already?
R51 is so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Science live is very interesting! and I love learning new facts about morse code and electricity and how it works.
I’m going to learn more about Morse codes, it’s interesting and a very knowledgeable education to get into. I look forward to watching the next science live!
I am really hoping to have morse code here on Acellus platform.
It’s crazy how the first person in the world to send the first ever E-mail didn’t even realize that they were changing the world. I love Acellus!!
Is morse code considered a language?
This was an amazing episode 10/10 would recommend
I love Science live. we are always learning something new like radio waves, and morse code.
The people that arent watching science live are missing out bigggg time.

It’s always fun to see what R-51 is up to!
You always now how to make me laugh at the end. It’s impossible to not laugh at R-51!
I thought this week’s episode of Science Live was amazing! My favorite part of the episode was Dr. John technology spotlight. Learning about how to help robots fall without breaking anything was extremely interesting. The engineers trying to teach the robot how to fall gracefully was not only beneficial for not breaking any expensive technology inside of them, but they could also strike a pose in the process. I wonder if other companies will also adapt this new way of falling as well. I enjoyed each part of this week’s science live and can’t wait for the next one Mr. B!
We love Science Live! This is terrific!
I found the beginning very interesting when they showed the robot and slowed it frame by frame to see the movements. The whole thing was awesome and very informative.
I love how after all of the serious science talk, you let r-51 come out to make it lighter again.
I loved the history of the email. For something we use daily without second thought, it has such a fascinating back round.
Hi from NV. Thanks for always making these fun.
Me and my family watch science live and think it would be awesome if there was a Morse code class
Disney’s falling robot is amazing! I think it will improve their work. I hope I can see more of the robot!
R-51 is rocking these Science Lives and I loving learning morse code
Didn’t expect R-51 to get his way at the end lol
I love watching these science lives. Morse code is so complex and interesting!
This video was agood value lesson for many!!
My parents are always saying that they don’t know how they did it back in their day without all this technology. There’s apps on your phone to track people, e-mails, navigation and so many more things they didn’t have. They think it’s funny that leaving the house without your phone is crazy because they never had that back them. All the inventions and technology that has progressed over the years is really amazing inventions.
Morse code is so interesting! I loved this live
Amazing science live, Morse code is a topic that i was always highly interested in. So i am glad to see it being discussed.
I love watching science live.
Love Acellus!!
What are some inventions that are helpful but not widely recognized?
Science live is away so much fun, my favorite part is R-51!l
Who is your favorite inventor in world history?
very glad r-51 finally got a bit of recognition.
Hey, guys. Props to Tyler for completing his music course! Despite that little comic relief scene towards the end of Tyler’s clip, he actually made a very smart statement. He said that once you solve the main problem, it’s actually really easy! That’s something I can agree with. But at the same time, it kind of applies to life in general, doesn’t it? For example, let’s say planning out any future career like becoming a lawyer. You have to go to law school in order to become a lawyer. And you will have to go through trial and error, but if you keep at it, you will eventually succeed and everything will be easier from there on out for a while. It’s also like Acellus’s “Vectored Instruction”, you reach your uphill zone and then you reach your down hill zone! And by the way, if your seeing this Tyler, good luck getting out of trouble with your mother. Haha!
this was so cool! its awesome to learn more about inventing and the awesome things we can create
R-51 is hilarious.
How does science work for different inventions
Thank you for teaching us about Morse Code! I’ve always been fascinated by it, and once had a morse code sheet that I used to communicate with an old friend.
I learned that the @ sign was used in Italy a long time before they started using it with the emails.
I love it when Roger Billing’s tells stories! He’s so well animated and tells them really well!
*Here from Alaska can’t wait to see what we cover next
I love R-51.
I think that teaching those robots is really cool. I hope they get to the point where they are fully functional.
Hi from Illinois, love the science lives!
I love learning about Dr. Roger Billings new inventions and how funny R 51 is.
I’m learning so much on Science Live! My mom, dad, and I didn’t know the @ sign is short for AMEN!!! I Hope Eveyone Learned Something! Keep On Working!
From Virginia. The history of email is really cool. I never knew that how it was made.
I liked when Tiler crumbled up the paper.
hi from maine i was wondering when the robots fall down do you have to pick them up or can they get back up again on there own?
I love I love Acellus!
R-51 is the best!
I think it is horrible that people boast about “cheating” the scholarship.
When did you invent the hydrogen bus?
