How to Invent
November 19, 2025 • EPISODE 287
How do great inventions begin? In this episode of Science LIVE, Dr. Roger Billings breaks down the process of inventing—showing how curiosity, creativity, and simple problem-solving can grow into real innovations. Using Morse code as an example, he explains how messages are sent and demonstrates it with a telegraph key. A fun, practical look at how anyone can start turning ideas into inventions.

This is only my first week on Acellus and I love it, I am already very interested in Science Live so thank you for the awesome video
I didn’t know you could communicate with a “Super Duper Communicator”!!!!!
I loved this Science Live because we learnd Morse code! One more thing I am in love with R51!!!
Thank you for science live I enjoyed this episode and Morse code can’t wait till next week ☺️
R-51 is my favorite I’m part of the fan club
From Michigan, R-51 is cool and good work on the science live this week!
Hello from Canada, we learned that robot’s can fall and some with style, can we also see them getting up in style or even jumping?
I want to invent things! This is awesome 😎
This science live was awesome hopefully we see more!
Awesome! Thank you Acellus.
r-51 is so funny! haha
I’m so sorry that there are people that are abusing the generous scholarships you’ve given them. I appreciate it a lot!
Science live is AWESOME!
I would enjoy learning morse code on Acellus
I am so grateful that you take your precious time to make this and God bless you
I only know SOS in Morse code.
Do you think the AI “boom” is a bad thing?
Wonderfull Science live! I never thought that this symbol, (@), had a history before the e-mail! also… “You’ve got mail!”
i like aviation. the best bomber is the B-52 Stratofortress.
Greetings from Dallas Texas! I Hope you all have a great week! (Remember all this that you’er reading is possible because of email!)
I love Dr. John and how he talks about the robots
*
Morse code is so fascinating! I love Acellus!
One thing I learned in todays video is about how emails work and how they had changed history for people in the world.
When Dr. John spoke about robot’s “falling with style” I didn’t really think it was necessary for a robot to fall like a human. But it makes sense now because it protects itself by softening the fall and not breaking anything. I also thought it was funny how it poses’ when it falls.
I liked learning about the robots!
Did Dr. B make his home the first hydrogen home, or was it built from the ground? If he built it, I would love to see the inside of the first hydrogen home.
It would be cool to also have a course for Morse Code and about the history of it. Would we be able to have the tools you used in the Live in the store?(for the Morse Code)
Will the credited Science Live be the same or will there be changes?
R-51 was really funny!!;) About when do y’all expect the new courses to be released?
I love r51 he is so funny.
Cool that CB stands for Citizens broadcasting. Love that inventing is like taking steps on a ladder, one step at a time.
We look forward to our science live each week. Thanks to all the staff for bringing us interesting topics.
I love inventing things!!
Wow this Science Live was soooo cool, and learning Morse code is vary vary fun. This video taught me a lot! One more thing I love R51!!!
What encouraged researchers in Tokyo to create this dual light microscope, and what modern problems might it solve?
Hi I’m from Missouri and I really love r 51 and he is sooooooooo funny and I like the science live
I love R-51
when coming up with an invention how many times to you go through the process before saying “this is the one”?
I really liked science live this week. Let r-51 know he’s my favorite too
love science live this one was especially awesome.
Thank for such a cool science live! R-51 is so silly haha
I really want to have a lesson on morse code as an “activity” or as a “lesson”.
We use science live for family night. We watch science live together, eat dinner, and do experiments or play games.
The origins of the @ symbol is really interesting
Loved this episode of Science Live! Can’t wait to learn more next week! 🙂
this is the best home school
SCIENCE ROCKSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
hey! I love this program so much all the activities are awesome!! cool to learn about Morris code exited for the next video!

I love it when Dr. John introduces the latest developments with robots.
Ive been starting to really enjoy these videos !! I’d would be cool if you guys had a course on AP social skills haha and even basic social skills as i have always had trouble with talking to people, tones, facial expressions etc
Roger Billings is correct, identifying the problem and solving the problem is a big step in inventing and creating.
how many attempts did it take to send that first “e-mail”
I really liked today’s morse code topic, it sounds super interesting and cool to learn.
I am Going to Be finishing my Intro to Earth an space Science TODAY!!! YAY!! 😀 (Today as in Nov 20 2025!!) I am Going to be starting Lady Pajets Social Emotional Course !! Also YAY!!

Those robots at Disney that Dr. John was talking about are awesome.
Can you ever really have enough study tips? Always helpful 🙂
My family also likes watching Science Live with me
R51 is funny! I love robots!
I had no idea that scientists are actually trying to get robots to fall gracefully. It makes sense so that they don’t fall apart every time they fall. Super cool.
My first question is Dr. Roger Billings did you tell anyone after you fixed the amplifier what you did to fix it at the end of the conference? My second question is how do I see if my post were submitted?
peoples random ideas changed the world
Hi my name is Marcelle I am 10 years old and I want to know if I can join the group because I love their videos and I love fishing with my dad but I love it so much I really appreciate that DR B said that he was fishing since he was little and he didn’t know what he wanted but it was so good to see photos of that first fish he had caught and if you saw this comment add it in the science live please

Im going to Kansas city in December and I was wondering how can I attend Sicence Live in person?? I cant wait to come!😁😁
My grandfather and father both used ham radios during the 1971 earthquake in Southern California. They were able to communicate with others within an area to advise people what the conditions were like around their cities.
what is the first step too making a company?
Very grateful for the scholarship opportunity, especially as a low income family. It makes it very affordable for me to do home schooling, without having to put the burden of paying 200 dollars on my family.
Ma, my little brother and I watch Science Live together every week. It has become one of our favorite things we do together as a family. It is now our family tradition to eat scones and fresh bread my Ma bakes while watching your show every week. I appreciate learning about hydrogen, Morse Code, and Inventioneering. We really enjoy watching R-51 on the show. I am grateful to be a part of The Roger Billings Scholarship. Thank you.

Fun fact! S.O.S. is three short, three long, then three short again.
This science live was awesome from Nebraska
Science Live is great!
Today I learned that robots can fall in a way that is cool and that it also protects them!
and for your question, Michael ,I would say that they program specific movements for the robot. It is probably just like in the AC-D2 simulator where you can make the bot dance!
(If you haven’t done the “STEM 2” course yet you most likely don’t understand but don’t worry because you’ll learn soon enough!☺)
Learning about Morse code was really cool. Seeing how communication has changed through the years is interesting.

Hi from Dallas TX, loved this week’s episode. It was so fun to learn about how to use morse code.
Jaylen from Vegas Acellus is a great program.
Hi, one thing I like the most in this episode is the history on the invention of email and the backstory of the @ symbol. By the way, I was originally on Science Live because of the scholarship, but Science Live turns out to be useful and the speakers bring many interesting topics every time that update our knowledge of the latest developments, so I enjoy watching it more and more. I agree that learning is important, and I really appreciate all of the hard work and effort y’all have gone through to put these episodes together.
I loved learning about the history of the @ symbol!
This science live was extra special because i want to be an inventor when i grow up
I enjoyed learning about Morse code. My dad is in the military and he said they used this a long time ago, but only in certain situations now.
Generation after generation, the times you try, the many steps you took is all amazing in the many we made to get here. It’s alone is all inspiring to work, to try, and to be determined.
Once you invent something, how do you patent it?
Vectors instruction identifies gaps and then pops up the exact lesson you need.
I like the shirts that are posted on the store. I got inspired by the title of todays video “how to invent”.

Science live was awesome
I find it pretty cool to see how robots are advancing and how emails came to fruition.
Lady Paget’s attire is beautiful this week. I have an idea for a T shirt “Got a problem? Invent something to solve it!” Maybe have a picture of an Amish buggy at the top and a picture of a beautiful sports car at the bottom.
R51 is so funny, and so is that robot. I can’t wait for more Science Live!
Soooo, I didn’t know Pajet was colaborating with R-51! Hahahaha 😂😂😂
I think that the Disney robot is cool because it can land in poses. I wonder how long it takes to make a morse code message? I loved Dr. R’s part today!
