Integrated Circuit Introduction

February 11, 2026  •  EPISODE 297

Why were integrated circuits so important in making computers smaller, faster, and more powerful? In this episode of Science LIVE, Roger Billings introduces the integrated circuit. Discover how integrated circuits helped shrink computers while making them faster and more powerful—paving the way for today’s technology. The episode also highlights the excitement surrounding the great comet of 2026 and the engineering behind high-speed bullet trains.

I thought today’s episode was exciting and intriguing. My favorite part of the episode was Dr. John Technology spotlight. Learning about why comets have 2 tails was interesting, I never realized that the two tails were that important a comet. I can’t wait to see the comet that’s apparently coming this April, it potentially being as bright as the moon is amazing. However, I wonder if this comet is also a part of a bigger version of it and maybe one day it will come around someday too? I thought every part of today’s episode was wonderful. I can’t wait to see you next week Mr. B and Happy early Valentines days!

I’m looking forward to the upcoming Science Fair. The segment on the bullet train was especially fascinating. Learning that it can travel 150 feet in a single second is mind blowing. I’m excited to dive deeper and do some research on it myself. The Protègès video was, once again, both fun to watch and highly informative. Thank you , Dr. Billings, for another excellent episode of Science Live.
